Collaboration, ICT and Mind Mapping

John Ralston, Deirdre Cook

Abstract

This study looks at an example of collaborative activity in Primary schools and aims to explore the ways that visual material helps children establish shared meanings. It focuses on three distinct questions:
  • What are the ways in which multimodal-mapping software can support children?ǨѢs exploration and presentation of ideas?
  • How can the maps produced by the children be analysed?
  • Do samples of the children?ǨѢs talk in groups sessions indicates evidence of
    collaboration and negotiation?
